Content Management System (CMS)
A CMS, is a web site maintenance system used to manage web-based content data. These systems involve a database for content data storage and a "back-end" website accessed by those with an administrative password. Once logged in, the CMS allows its' user to easily add, revise, delete, or hide any entry or content that it is handling.
Some CMS systems are "live" - meaning changes made there are immediately reflected in the publicly available side of the site. In other arrangements, changes made are stored/accumulated and published (made live) only when all editing is complete or when elected to do so by the site's administrator.
