Adobe Flash

"Flash" can refer to both the Adobe Flash Player and also to the Adobe Flash multimedia authoring program. The former is a browser plugin which allows the browser to display (play/run) animation files generated with the latter Adobe Flash program.

Flash technology is a popular means for adding animation and interactivity to web pages, to advertisements, and more recently to even develop entire, stand-alone, full-featured Internet applications.

These Flash files (called "swiffs" - for their .swf file name extensions) may be embedded as an object of a web page. The animated menu of this website was created with and made possible through the use of Flash.
